Access route to offices behind hospital announced for Harris Emergency Department Construction

Sylva, N.C.Construction on the new 18,000 sq. ft. emergency department at Harris Regional Hospital is underway and expected to continue through the late summer. Access to the physician offices located behind the hospital will be available throughout construction of the new Harris Emergency Department. Harris Pulmonary and Sleep Center and Mission Children’s – Sylva physician practices may be accessed by turning off Asheville Highway at the Medical Park Loop/Lower Level Parking at Mountain Regional Cancer Center and the Medical Park Loop/Upper Level Parking. Both entrances are marked with blue monument signage. After turning off Asheville Highway, follow Medical Park Loop to the back of the hospital.

Harris Regional Hospital is building the new emergency department adjacent to the main lobby of Harris Regional Hospital. It will include 23 beds, 14 of which will be for acute care, five for ‘fast track’ or less severe injuries or illnesses and four for patients awaiting transfer to a behavioral health facility. The new emergency department replaces the current emergency room which has 13 beds and was built more than 25 years ago.

The $11 million project is part of Duke LifePoint Healthcare’s $43 million commitment to investing in the community.

Due to recent Emergency Department construction traffic to reach Harris Pulmonary and Sleep Center has been temporarily rerouted. Please see map or call 586-7994 and to reach Mission Children’s call 586-5594 if you have any additional questions.
