Harris Regional Hospital, is pleased to welcome Alvin Strasburger, MD to Harris Women’s Care

SYLVA, BRYSON CITY, FRANKLIN, N.C. – Harris Regional Hospital, a Duke LifePoint hospital, is pleased to welcome Alvin Strasburger, MD to Harris Women’s Care, a Duke LifePoint physician practice located at 70 The Village Overlook across the street from the hospital. Dr. Strasburger joins Sabine Kelischek, MD, Megan Metcalf, MD, nurse practitioner Kathy Walsh and certified nurse midwives Sally Inglesby-Schaefer, Rani Khan, and Judi Layton in providing obstetrical and gynecological care at the practice locations in Sylva, Bryson City, and Franklin.
Originally from Columbia, SC, Dr. Strasburger completed his residency training at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center and Kings County Hospital Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Brooklyn, NY after graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Strasburger completed post-graduate studies in biostatistics, bioinformatics, and epidemiology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston after graduating from Columbia University in New York, NY.

In August and September of this year Harris Regional Hospital established a full-time presence in Franklin for Harris Women’s Care with seven providers and Harris Pediatric Care with five providers. The offices are located at Harris Regional Hospital Medical Park of Franklin, 55 Holly Springs Park Drive. Harris Women’s Care also has an office at Swain Community Hospital and Brooke Budde, DO, a board certified pediatrician, sees patients at Swain Family Care in Bryson City.
The New Generations Family Birthing Center at Harris Regional Hospital will be complete in November, providing a renovated labor and delivery and mother-baby unit for families designed to match the high-quality care provided by physicians, certified nurse midwives, and nursing and technical staff.
