Harris Regional Hospital partners with longstanding local pharmacy to provide prescription delivery service to patients, ensure continuity of care
August 22, 2016
SYLVA – Harris Regional Hospital is pleased to announce its partnership with Mark’s HealthMart Pharmacy of Sylva to provide bedside prescription delivery to patients before they are discharged from the hospital. The program is aimed at ensuring continuity of care, and lowering readmission rates and costs for patients. There is no charge for bedside deliveries which will be made by Mark’s HealthMart Pharmacy staff who have been cleared through the hospital’s human resources process.
Pharmacists and pharmacy techs from Mark’s HealthMart Pharmacy will round on patients who have elected to have the service, answering questions and obtaining consent for bedside delivery. The pharmacy staff will work with nurses and hospital discharge planners to provide the service for patients. There is an option for pharmacy pickup or home delivery at no extra cost.
“Having an integrated in-house prescription service will help ensure our patients leave the hospital with not only the medications they need but also with answers to their questions and clear instructions on how to manage the medication,” said Anetra Jones, Chief Nurse Executive for Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital. “We believe this partnership will help us deliver on our mission of Making Communities Healthier.”
“We are here to provide excellent pharmacy services, give personal attention, and treat patients like family. We are looking forward to a partnership with Harris Regional Hospital to extend our services to the community,” said Mark Adam, a Sylva native and owner of Mark’s HealthMart Pharmacy.
If patients choose their regular pharmacy for refills the prescription can be transferred to the pharmacy of choice. Patients and their families will receive detailed information on the program upon admission. For information on the hospitals visit www.myharrisregional.com or www.myswaincommunity.com.
