Harris Women’s Care offers extended hours, approaches nine-month milestone in new building

Sylva, N.C. – Harris Women’s Care, a Duke LifePoint Physician Practice, now offers extended hours to provide additional convenience for women seeking obstetrical and gynecological services. The new hours feature first appointments at 8 a.m. and last appointments at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For appointments call (828) 631-8913 or 1-844-414-DOCS.

Harris Women’s Care moved to its current location at 70 The Village Overlook, across the street from Harris Regional Hospital, in October 2015 when it acquired Smoky Mountain OB/GYN. In its new location, Harris Women’s Care has been able to provide a seamless transition in care for patients of Smoky Mountain OB/GYN. Medical records of patients who formerly received care at Smoky Mountain OB/GYN are on file at the clinic.

Harris Women’s Care is approaching the nine-month mark in the new space. The practice includes Mila Bruce, MD, Megan Metcalf, MD, Sabine Kelischek, MD and Kathy Walsh, NP who provide obstetrical and gynecological care.

“We’re privileged to serve the women of our region with hours that fit their busy schedules. We hope that by providing quality healthcare in a way that is convenient women will find it easier to take charge of their health and assign priority to their own needs. Of course, nine months carries special significance in the work we do as it relates to delivering babies. We are thrilled to mark this milestone in our new space,” said Mila Bruce, MD.

Harris Women’s Care has regional locations at Swain Community Hospital and Harris Regional Hospital Medical Park of Franklin. The physicians work closely with the pediatricians at Harris Pediatric Care with Charles Toledo, MD, Nick Jernigan, MD and Joshua Alweiss, MD, and Swain Family Care with Brooke Budde, DO and family practice physicians Tammy Johnston, MD and David Johnston, MD who also care for pediatric patients.

Babies are delivered at Harris Regional Hospital in a renovated labor and delivery unit that features updated fetal monitoring and infant respiratory technology. Gynecological surgical services at Harris Regional Hospital include the latest minimally-invasive technologies in addition to state-of-the-art breast imaging and breast care nurse navigation services. Many outpatient gynecological surgical procedures are also provided at Harris Women’s Care.
