October's Nutrition Tip: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women. Certain nutrients can offer protection. For example, vitamin D which is found in foods like fatty fish, cheese, fortified milks and cereals. Sunlight exposure is important for vitamin D synthesis. Food such as berries and pomegranate can be protective against breast cancer. Also, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds have been associated with a reduction in post-menopausal breast cancer.
