Pediatrician Brooke Budde, DO joining Swain Family Care at Swain Community Hospital, now taking appointments

Bryson City, N.C. – Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital are pleased to announce that pediatrician Brooke Budde, DO will join the physicians of Swain Family Care in serving the community with pediatric care for children ages 0 to 20. Dr. Budde is taking appointments now and will begin seeing patients on March 21st at Swain Family Care which is located inside Swain Community Hospital.

Dr. Budde joins Tammy Johnston, MD, David Johnston, MD, and certified physician assistant Danny Mingus. Dr. Tammy Johnston and Dr. David Johnston see the full range of patients, including pediatric patients, in their practice and always have same day appointments open for children who are ill.

Dr. Budde has practiced with Charles Toledo, MD since 2010 at Harris Pediatric Care in Sylva which also includes pediatricians Nicholas Jernigan, MD and Joshua B. Alweiss, MD.

Dr. Budde received her medical training at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a pediatric osteopathic internship program at Henry Ford Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit where she also completed her pediatric medicine residency. Dr. Budde has additional training in tropical and global medicine including practicums in Africa and China. Dr. Budde has served as an assistant professor of pediatrics at Wayne State University in Detroit and worked as a pediatric hospitalist caring for admitted children at Children’s Hospital of Michigan for five years.
