Harris Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist Stefanie Hatfield, MD to its medical staff. Dr. Hatfield brings over 13 years of experience in obstetric and gynecologic care and is dedicated to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based treatment to women in all stages of life.
Dr. Hatfield earned her medical degree from Rush University Medical College in Chicago and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals (now Mount Sinai West) in New York City. Throughout her career, she has provided expert OB/GYN care in private practice and hospital settings, specializing in high-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, infertility counseling, and cervical disease management. She is also skilled in obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound, vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), and vacuum-assisted vaginal deliveries.
Before attending medical school, Dr. Hatfield spent two years serving with AmeriCorps in Chicago, working specifically with children in immigrant communities. This experience reinforced her desire to pursue a career in healthcare, particularly in women’s health, where she saw the potential to make a lasting impact on patients’ lives.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Hatfield to Harris Regional Hospital’s medical staff,” said Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital. “Her extensive experience, dedication to women’s health, and patient-first approach will be a tremendous asset to our community. We are excited for the expertise and compassionate care she will bring to women seeking obstetric and gynecologic services.”
Dr. Hatfield recently relocated to western North Carolina to be closer to family, having been born in Georgia and spent her childhood in Virginia.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Hatfield enjoys an active lifestyle that includes yoga, biking, hiking, and reading. She is also passionate about knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitch—creative hobbies that provide balance to her demanding profession. A lifelong learner, she recently acquired a piano and looks forward to taking lessons as she settles into her new home.
Dr. Hatfield will practice at Harris Women’s Care, located at 70 The Village Overlook in Sylva. Appointments may be made by visiting HarrisMedicalGroup.com or by calling 844-414-DOCS.
