Harris Regional Hospital welcomes certified nurse midwife Elizabeth Barker to its medical staff
February 27, 2025

Harris Regional Hospital is pleased to welcome Elizabeth Barker, CNM, MSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM, to its medical staff. Barker, a certified nurse midwife, brings nearly a decade of experience in labor and delivery, specializing in high-risk obstetrics, patient-centered care, and trauma-informed support for women’s health needs.
Barker began her career as a labor and delivery nurse, where she developed a strong passion for women’s health and maternal care. Wanting to provide an even greater level of support for her patients, she pursued midwifery and gained extensive clinical experience in deliveries, prenatal and postpartum care, and gynecologic services. She is board-certified in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
“We are excited to welcome Elizabeth Barker to Harris Regional Hospital’s medical staff,” said Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital. “Her expertise in labor and delivery, along with her dedication to patient-centered, compassionate care, will be a valuable resource for women and families in our community. We look forward to the impact she will make as she helps patients navigate pregnancy, birth, and beyond.”
A longtime resident of western North Carolina, Barker grew up in the Asheville area and has chosen to stay in the area for its natural beauty. An avid reader and outdoor enthusiast, she loves hiking with her golden retriever and traveling to national parks for annual adventures.
Barker will practice at Harris Women’s Care, where she will provide midwifery services, prenatal and postpartum care, and gynecologic services.
