New Generations Family Birthing Center at Harris Regional Hospital welcomes first baby of the year, Wesley Nelson, on 1/2/25

New Generations Family Birthing Center at Harris Regional Hospital is proud to announce the arrival of its first baby of the year, Wesley Tyler Nelson. Baby boy Wesley was born on January 2, 2025, at 2:14PM, weighing 7 lbs 9 oz and measuring 20 inches long. He is the son of Tyler and Gabrielle Nelson, residents of Cullowhee, NC.

“We are thrilled to welcome Wesley into the world and to be a part of such a special moment for his family,” said Savannah Baylon, MSN, RN, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services at Harris Regional Hospital. “The start of a new year is always a time for new beginnings, and Wesley’s arrival is the perfect way to celebrate 2025. We are honored to care for such a wonderful family, and we look forward to watching Wesley grow.”

New Generations Family Birthing Center at Harris Regional Hospital leads the region in labor and delivery care, delivering the highest number of babies west of Asheville each year. New Generations’ services include a Level II Special Care Nursery specializing in the care of ill or premature newborns. The nursery is staffed by board-certified neonatologist Dr. Bernd Holler, as well as a team of nurses and medical professionals trained in life-saving care for newborns. The center offers family education and support, advanced diagnostic equipment, and technology to care for a range of newborn conditions, including premature infants, infants with respiratory or developmental issues, and those needing stabilization or intensive care before transferring to a neonatal intensive care unit.
